Bluehole Inc, the folks behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds up until this point, have formed a new subsidiary called PUBG Corp – that’s their logo above, goodness knows how they came up. PUBG Corp has finally confirmed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds 2 is a reality, and is currently in development. Updated 1/19/2021: New release window details PUBG saw its hayday in the summer of 2018, hitting over 1 million concurrent Steam players on average for several months, and peaking at 3.2 million concurrent players. Brendan Greene, aka PlayerUnknown and the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has announced the formation of a new independent game studio in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Greene was originally a modder whose experiments with the battle royale genre eventually led to the creation of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Krafton announced that the developers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, PUBG Corp, have merged with the parent company Krafton, apparently in an attempt to achieve better collaboration.
The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds development team will be left to operate as part of Krafton’s system of fully owned “independent” studios when the merger takes effect later this year.
According to the official announcement, the merger should let Krafton have more control in their vision to make an independent studio system “that will empower development teams to produce premier gameplay experiences”.
Technically, the merger didn’t happen just yet but the finishing touches are expected to be done by the end of 2020. With that, Krafton should pour additional internal support resources for both PUBG and TERA.
The announcement focused on talking about potential growth for PUBG which could be really useful for the game, considering today’s player counts are a shadow of the battle royale’s former self.
Fortnite overtook PUBG as the king of battle royales since that time and the arrivals of Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone certainly contributed to Bluehole’s game shedding players further
